    What you will do:
    1/ JOB PURPOSE:


    • The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is field-based medical personnel, responsible for engaging with key thought-leaders (KTLs), Health Care Professional (HCPs), institutions and organizations in his/her territory through appropriate high level scientific interaction for information exchange, education, research activities, publications, consulting, and other Medical Affairs initiatives.
    • He/she ensures effective two-way communication across multifunctional teams in carrying out Medical Affairs Strategy and tactics.
    • The Medical Science Liaison provides as well comprehensive medical and scientific support to Sanofi internal customers, including Commercial Operations.
    • The Medical Science Liaison should be perceived as Sanofi’s “Scientific Ambassador”.
    • Extensive knowledge in the area of interest is strongly preferred.
    • The position reports solely to Medical Affairs and collaborates strongly with all customer-facing functions.
    2/ KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Primary responsibilities of this role are to facilitate information exchange, education, and research activities for physicians and ancillary healthcare professionals, payers and other stakeholders regarding current and future therapies in development or commercialized by Sanofi.
    Medical Expert Partnership

    • Maintain credible peer-to- peer scientific relationships/partnership with national / top regional Medical Experts (ME) and decision makers.
    • Serve as a primary liaison for clinical and scientific information exchange with Health Care Professional (HCPs) in assigned institutions, cooperative groups, patient advocacy groups, and other managed care organizations, to facilitate optimal use of sanofi products and to ensure optimized patient care (i.e. the best possible outcomes for any given patient treated with a Sanofi product).
    • Engage with selected Key thought Leaders (KTLs) to provide scientific information of our existing and future product introductions or pipeline, upon request or in fulfillment of an approved Medical Affairs communication initiative.
    • Contribute to the mapping / profiling of ME/decision makers and the identification of younger talented ME in line with Medical Affairs strategies.
    • Collect customer insights and emerging clinical/scientific trends and convey feedback to internal Medical Management
    Scientific Exchange & Medical Brand support

    • Active participation to selected scientific congresses and cooperative group meetings for the purposes of collecting insights and information about disease states which may potentially include Sanofi products AND also supporting on-site the information needs on Sanofi products,
    • Upon their request, provide support to speakers at scientific meetings (organized by Sanofi or other): e.g. providing existing data, both as slides, posters, publications, providing any briefing about the purpose of the meeting, any specific training needs the ME/speaker might have.
    • Deliver themselves scientific speeches and communicating new clinical data during scientific/educational meetings in hospitals or in Advisory board meetings
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide balanced, accurate medical information to, and scientific exchange with institutional formulary decision makers.
    • Obtain, assimilate, organize, and report appropriate competitive and scientific intelligence in a concise manner, compliant with all applicable local rules and regulations as well as Sanofi policies, procedures, and processes.
    Medical Information:

    • Provide reactive scientific information to unsolicited requests from HCPs
    • Respond professionally and timely to documented requests from HCPs requiring On-Label information about a Company product, or data in relation to disease specific questions through telephone, email and face to face contact.
    • May respond to unsolicited requests from HCPs requiring Off-Label information about a Company product, including preapproval drugs (under certain circumstances)
    • MSL will receive help from the Medical Information colleagues and will be able to use approved Standard Response Letters (SRL) and Frequently
    Scientific Projects Clinical Trial Support

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in assessing community education & research needs, and develop education & research strategies to meet those needs (registries, epidemiology projects, HEOR, preclinical of translational research, etc.)
    • Identify potential research opportunities that are consistent with sanofi product development strategies (Company-Sponsored Trials) and provide liaison support with their area’s KTLs for:
      o Site Feasibility and Site Quality for Sanofi’s clinical research studies
      o Educational activities to support study accrual
    • Facilitate unsolicited requests and serve as a liaison for the review, submission, execution and completion of Investigator Initiated Trial (ISTs) proposals in collaboration with the Clinical Study Unit (CSU) and Medical Managers.
    Internal Support

    • Keep up to date with the literature
    • Shares information with sales reps on a regular basis
    • Provide medical support and training upon request to internal staff (e.g. disease state and product knowledge, Market Access, Pharmacovigilance, etc. to sales reps, Sales managers, CRAs, etc.).All content used is locally reviewed and approved as per appropriate process.
    Corporate image and Compliance

    • Ensure that all activities and interactions comply with local rules and regulations as well as all Sanofi business policies and SOPs.
    Corporate HSE responsibilities

    • At any level of the organization, each individual is accountable for following all HSE guidelines and policies requested by the Group as well as contributing to the achievement of the HSE objectives.
    • Line Manager is accountable for assuring compliance with the road safety program for driving employees under their supervision and leads by example.
    You will definitely need:
    Education:


    • The preferred educational background combines a Doctoral level training (MD, pharmacist PharmD, PhD or other life sciences equivalent university degree) with strong scientific and clinical pharmaceutical knowledge and experience.
    • Post-doctoral or fellowship program experience in clinical research, epidemiology, or related fields is preferred but not required
    Experience:

    • Experience and understanding of the evolving healthcare data environment and informatics is also a preference.
    • A minimum of 2-3 years of previous Medical Affairs experience in the pharmaceutical industry is a definite plus.
    • Un-experienced candidates can be considered for the job in case mentoring by more experienced MSL colleagues is possible
    • Experience with trial design, statistics preferred

      o Computer literacy, including the capability to use all the channels of modern communication technology
      o Excellent presentation skills both in person and via virtual channels
      o Can interpret difficult clinical/scientific data and summarize succinctly
      o Excellent organizational skills, leadership, and the ability to work independently.
      o Demonstrated strategic thinking capability.
      o Excellent understanding of compliance standards and practices.
      o Capability to interact successfully with all levels of matrix partners and stakeholders and network with both internal and external colleagues.
